My brother-in-law, Doug, has passed away after a long illness.  Doug had an emergency heart transplant in 1997 that nearly claimed his life.  He rallied and enjoyed several years with his family.  The effects of the anti-rejection medications eventually killed his kidneys and harmed his liver.  While he is now in a better place, he will be sorely missed.  He is survived by his wife (my sister) Donna, his sons Dan and Dougie (wife Eileen), and grandchildren Evan and Shelby.
